In Tokyo, the new constantly replaces the old what exists today may well be gone tomorrow. but I show the places both traditional and modern.
What is your fascination behind coming to Tokyo? I know everything of everything about it. because I was born, grew up and live in the centre of Tokyo! Would you like to see a Buddhist temple and Shinto shrine? Would you like to eat authentic Japanese cuisine? Would you like to know more local area? I take you one day tour in Tokyo that is Not inserted in guidebook. Here are part of spots I can guide travelers: Asakusa It is the center of Tokyo's shitamachi (literally "low city"), one of Tokyo's districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries. Meiji Shrine It is a shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken. Located just beside the JR Yamanote Line's busy Harajuku Station, Meiji Shrine and the adjacent Yoyogi Park make up a large forested area within the densely built-up city. The spacious shrine grounds offer walking paths that are great for a relaxing stroll. Shinjuku It is one of the 23 city wards of Tokyo, but the name commonly refers to just the large entertainment, business and shopping area around Shinjuku Station. Harajuku The focal point of Harajuku's teenage culture is Takeshita Dori (Takeshita Street) and its side streets, which are lined by many trendy shops, fashion boutiques, used clothes stores, crepe stands and fast food outlets geared towards the fashion and trend conscious teens. Tsukiji Market It is a large wholesale market for fish, fruits and vegetables in central Tokyo. It is the most famous of over ten wholesale markets that handle the distribution of fish, meat, produce and flowers in Tokyo. Tsukiji Market is best known as one of the world's largest fish markets, handling over 2,000 tons of marine products per day. You can see the example. please check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXcSNKndzqc The guide price is US$49per person(adult) a day. (That doesn't include lunch. please pay for mine) You can take my services anytime if I'm free. Please contact me without reserve by 2 days before. I can manage flexibly so I guide you if you want to see Sumo practice, want to experience making food sample, want to go women's clothes shopping etc. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.
Our guide did a great job covering all the things we wanted to see in the time frame we wanted. Great program!
Kazuhisa is a great guy! It shows me a different side of Tokyo, it is like hanging out with a friend. We had sake, lunch and gave me his opinion on my tokyo sightseeing. Highly recommended tour guide
Had a great time, saw many sites both local unknown to tourist sites and major tourists site. Temples and nature in Tokyo are beautiful. Would definitely book a another tour with Kazuhisa again next time i am in Tokyo. He was not available on the the day but his friend was, and i enjoyed learning from a local of japan.
Kazu was great! He is very down to earth and easy to get along with. He was able to help me make the most of the half day I had free in Tokyo. It was just like meeting up with a friend and hanging out.
Kazu was a great tour guide and was very patient with all of our questions as well as our constant stops to look/eat food. He took us to us to the usual tourist hot spots we requested and some of the 'off the track' local attractions that don't get much attention from sites like trip-advisor and japan guide. It was a wonderful day and it has been a pleasure to go on tour with him!
We had a great day touring Tokyo with Kazu. Despite the rainy weather he showed us around some great areas and gave us a taste of the city. Would definitely recommend
Kazu was very friendly and a great guide. He was knowledgeable about all the places we went, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him. I highly recommend him!
Kazu was amazing. This was my first time visiting Tokyo and I knew I wanted to see historical sights and sight see. I added my nephew to our tour last minute and he was very accommodating. He showed us an amazing time, gave us good trip and travel advice. On my next visit to Tokyo I will defiantly booking with Kazu again.
Kazu was great fun, easy going and easy to get along with. He took us around his neighborhood and brought us places we wanted to see. We ended up meeting a bunch of people from all over the world with his help. He was also very punctual and flexible in his schedule. He even thought about bringing an umbrella for us and it became very handy. We will definitely look him up again if we ever come back to Tokyo.
I spent a great day with Kazu. It felt more like going out with a new friend, than with a payed official guide. Which was perfect for me. He accommodated all my requests, even the last minute ones. Would definitely plan another tour with him when I return to Tokyo.
Kazuisha is an amazing person and gave us an exciting Tokyo tour with many interesting activities. He can speak good english and he's a funny and intersting person. I strongly suggest him if you are interested in knowing Tokyo's attractions and history.
This was my first time traveling outside the United States, I came to Tokyo to participate in the marathon. Kazuhisa was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend him to anyone who wants to make the most out of their stay in Tokyo. First off, he came to meet me at my hotel and even patiently waited as I was about 45 mins late. He was an expert guide, showing all the places I wanted to visit as well as showing me stores and places only a local would know. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to hangout with. He gave me great insight into the culture, history and customs of the places we visited. He was very good company as I took detours to shop for souvenirs. I guarantee you will have an amazing experience with Kazuhisa, I certainly did. No matter what you want to explore and experience, Kazu is the right person for the job!
I had a really great time walking around Tokyo with Kazu. Kazu met me at my hotel lobby, then we took subway to Asakusa to see Sensoji temple. It was very busy (Hatsumode) so we didn't hang out for too long. We then went to Ueno. I am a big walker, so we walked from Ueno to Akihabara. Had lunch at Yodobashi, then walked to Tokyo Imperial Palace then to Ginza. Kazu is a good company, very easy going and friendly. We talked about a range of topics, from serios stuff to joking around. It just like hanging out with a really good friend from Tokyo. See you again next time Kazu.
Thank you Kazuhisa! We had a fantastic day! You are an excellent host and I can recommend you most highly to anyone considering a day visit to Tokyo! Thank you very much David and Robby
Kazu was quick to respond to my initial inquires, flexible in his availability to fit my limited free time in Tokyo, and genuinely knowledgeable and friendly. I enjoyed getting to know Kazu as much as I enjoyed the sites, sounds and smells as we walked and talked our way through a three-hour walking tour of Shinjuku.
one of my best experiences in Tokyo
I highly recommend booking Kazu's tour. We did the fish market tour & it was awesome! After the tour, Kazu took us around the corner to get delicious sushi! Our bellies were full & satisfied. We actually had our tour slightly tailored so that we could see a museum. If you would like to do the same, just email Kazu & ask him about the pricing & details on tailored tours. He is very friendly & helpful. Kazu is very attentive & kind. I highly recommend this awesome tour! :)
My wife and I was in Tokyo and was fortunate to have Kazu guide us. He is an excellent Guide. Kazu is very patience. I would highly recommend him without hesitation. 17 October 2014
Kazuhisa was one of the few guides we contacted who actually got back to us, something we are grateful for. We had requested a 2 day tour of Tokyo and Mt. Fuji however we were interested in going to some specific places; this did not faze Kazu. He gamely took us to motorcycle shops (he now knows where the Harley Davidson shop is), the local shopping stores under the overpass (not sure of the name of this location) and of course the technology street. Interspersed with this we had an excellent lunch of noodles at a shop his brother recommended! We rented a car the next day for our Mt Fuji trip at his suggestion. Our original plan was to take the bullet train however he correctly advised this would limit our sight seeing as it would be difficult to get around once we landed at the train station. He took us to the Wind Tunnels, several beautiful lakes, and a gondola ride up a small mountain which had a good view of Mt. Fuji. We do feel, Kazu could provide more background information on many local sites. At times, his translation of Japanese signage was lacking. Overall, Kazu was accommodating, patient, friendly and punctual. A pleasure to be around. Thanks Kazu The Coveys, October, 2014
My husband and I met with Kazu in Tokyo. He showed us around for 6 hours or so. We had a great time and enjoyed Kazus company. He was adept at meeting our needs - we get over whelmed by large crowds so he was great at helping us get into great places and out again. Without him I think we still would have seen several things he took us to anyway by ourselves but he far more efficient than we would have been, meaning we could see more in the same amount of time. He was also patient with us while we browsed akihabara. I will look him up next time we visit for sure! Thanks Kazu!
My wife and I really enjoyed the 6 hours tour we had with Kazuhisa. During this hot summer day, he patiently guided us through the main tourists spots in Shinjuku, Asakusa and Harajuku, and also took us to some less known places. In addition to that we have learnt a lot about Japanese religion, Japanese food and life in Japan in general. If we come back to Tokyo in the future, we will definitely contact him again. Kazu and I spent half a day exploring lots of Tokyo, starting out in Asakusa, moving along to Kappabashi street, then exploring the Tsukiji outer markets, having a nice sushi lunch. I then asked to go to Asakusa to check out some of the Anime stores and the Sega game center. I ended up taking much more of his time than initially planned, but he never complained once. Bring some cash, as you'll want to buy snacks along the way. Don't expect lots of historical facts or a traditional guided tour. Think of it as visiting a local friend and him taking you around town. I do recommend to book this tour if this is your first time in Tokyo, as something as simple as figuring out the subway system or buying a ticket can be somewhat daunting. Kazu will get you there in a 10th of the time it will take you on your own. He even walked me back to my hotel and to a nearby takoyaki place that I asked him about, really going out of his way.
Kazu was friendly, well mannered and patient. Thanks for the great tour around Tokyo Kazu, definitely recommended!
For our trip to Tokyo, we definitely made the right choice in availing of the services of the Meetrip guide over the usual packaged tour. Kazuhisa Oda, or Kazu, expertly and smoothly guided us through the complex subway system which enabled us to reach our various destinations much faster than taking a tour bus. We visited Asakusa, the Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise Road, Ueno. He patiently waited under the hot sun while we delightedly shopped at Ameyoko. We saw the Tokyo skyline from the Metropolitan Government Office and had a most delicious sushi lunch at Tsukijii Market.Kazu went out of his way to look for an out-of-the way shop we wanted to visit. Kazu provided a personal touch to our Tokyo trip, enabling us to see it from the eyes of a Tokyo resident. We also gleaned from him bits of information on Japanese culture.Though it was the first time we met, he made us feel like a friend was taking us around town. We would most surely recommend him to anyone needing a guide in Tokyo.
My daughter and I took a 6 hour local tour of Tokyo and had a great time. Kazu meet us at our Hotel promptly at our scheduled time. We allowed him to pick the sites we visited on our tour and he did not disappoint. He took us to local spots as well as some of the more traditional sites. Kazu was very polite and willing and able to answer all our questions. I would recommend Kazu for a nice relaxing tour in a very busy city.
We spent half a day with Kazuhiza in mid april. We couldn't find a guide since it was busy tourist season in Japan and we decided it to give it a try. Kazuhiza is a kind person and is more a companion than a guide. He knows very well how to move around. He may not be familiar with the history of some places therefore you should not expect an explanation on historic or cultural matters of such places. He may know some places away from the classic tourist spots which is a good point. In the spirit of continuous improvement, something rooted in Japanese culture, we recommend Kazuhiza to do some research on the places he will visit to provide with a more rich travel experience to his customers.
Kazu is awesome! I took a tour with Kazu on Sunday and had an amazing time. He showed me around Shinjuku which is his home town so he knew the area very well and all the cool spots. We meet around 1 in the afternoon and i was hungry so he took me to a local ramen place which was fantastic. We then went to another city by train as there was a festival and showed me how the locals hang out. After that he showed me some tourist spot and went over to the observation tower which overlooks all of Tokyo as he explained the differnt cites along with some history of Japan. Kazu actually went the extra mile. Once the tour was over i asked him if he would be willing to have dinner later that evening since i was alone and was not sure where to go. He brought his wife along and we went out to sushi at his local spot. Once dinner was over we proceeded to get a few drinks in the Golden Gai area which was just amazing. We sat at a local bar had few drinks and meet some locals. All in all i had a blast thanks to Kazu. If anyone wants a great tour book him. George
We had a great day yesterday with our 3 children exploring Asakusa and Akihabara with Kuzu. Kazu made traveling the trains and changing lines very easy, he knew where all the lifts were for our stroller. He has the train system memorised!!Kazu was very patient as we stopped a lot and shared his knowledge of life in Tokyo. He took to a great sushi train for lunch. We saw so much, thanks Kazu you were a very nice guide for our family!
Booked a 3 days tour with Kazu. He was quite flexible and obliging with the arrangements and brought me to all the places I wanted to visit in and around Tokyo. On the 2nd day, we even make a whole day trip to see Mount Fuji and Hakone upon my request. I was feeling unwell (had a bad headache) that day and he had to drive around Hakone to find a pharmacy so that I could get some painkiller. But even then, we managed to catch some of the best views of Mount Fuji and sakura in full bloom at Hakone. He also brought me to see mount Fuji from some special spots, e.g. the view from the 1000 yen note and visited an "Ice Cave" which I wouldn't have known if I'm travelling on my own. Sometimes he would share funny anecdotes about places we visited (popular dating spot or worse park to date in because it would result in a breakup). He is very patient and accommodating. Would recommend him to anyone visiting Tokyo.
If you are looking through several options for tours around Tokyo with meetrip I would strongly recommend that you contact Kazu even if there are other tours that you might like better. The simple reason is that Kazu is very responsive. I contacted 4 or 5 different people and Kazu was the only one who consistently responded (most others didn't even reply to my original message). During the tour Kazu was very accommodating and good to be around. He makes you feel comfortable. We did a variety of things and one of them was our visit to Yanaka, which is one of my highlights of my entire time in Tokyo. At times though, I did feel he was a bit too passive for me (for example there were obvious places where a simple explanation was due, and if I had not asked I don't know if he would've ever given an explanation). I also would've preferred if he was more assertive and taken more of an initiative in how to go about our day. Nonetheless I still recommend him.
My husband and I had a wonderful tour of Tokyo with Kazu. It was a fun and laid-back day of site seeing. Kazu answered all our questions and adapted his tour to our interests. We saw a couple main tourist spots and then enjoyed a tour of some lovely, local areas with hardly a tourist in sight. I would definitely recommend Kazu to anyone looking for a Tokyo guide. He really knows this city!!
Had a great time with Kazu on 3/31/2014. Showed us around Tokyo on our first day there and made us comfortable to use the subway. Kazu is very nice and gave us interesting facts about the places we visit. His English is good.
I had a great time with Kazu. He showed up in time at my hotel. We visited several neighborhoods including a genuine and picturesque street with small shops near the Yanaka cemetery, the Yanaka cemetery itself, the Ueno park with its cherry trees and temple, an old temple with no tourists around (We sat there for some time and listened to a Buddhist service), a local shopping area ending up our day at Shibuya. Kazu was informative and easy to talk and connect to. He waited patiently while I took some detours for taking pictures. I strongly recommend Kazu services and will certainly contact him next time I travel to Tokyo.
Kazu was very friendly and patient. We got to see some really nice place including the Meiji shrine at Harajuku and Yoyogi park. We concluded with a great Sushi lunch at Shinjuku.
We had a great time on our tour. Kazuhisa showed us areas of Tokyo that we would have never found on our own. Plus, his restaurant recommendation was spot on!
My wife and I really enjoyed the half day tour provided by Kazu. He brought us to all the "must visit" landmarks in Tokyo. A very friendly guide.
Kazu was awesome! Even though the weather conditions weren't ideal for sightseeing outside (wet snow), very slippery, he was happy to take us anywhere we wanted! Very knowledgable, kind, polite, and funny sense of humour! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Kazu, will try using him again on our return trip to Tokyo! Thank you Kazu! Highly recommend this guide!
Hi people! I had a WONDERFUL time with Kazu!! He is a really nice and amazing guy. You will really feel like visiting Tokyo's major spots with a good friend. We had good conversations, laughs, walks and we even "cooked" our lunch!! He also recommended me his favorite onsen and I am heading there today :) Thanks again Kazu! Cheers
good trip with Kazu. He planned my day on the spot after a short initial discussion. He's easy o get along with and we had good conversations. He took me to places that I would have definitely not know to go. Awesome!
Three wonderful days touring with Kazu, fabulous guide and a delightful individual.
Super guide. No one should toir tour sprawling Tokyo without him. He was punctual, informative, and humorous. Thank you Kazu for the three days of touring, well worth the the money.
I had a good trip in Tokyo with Kazu, He helped me a lot in exploring Tokyo including asakusa tample, akibahara and Skytree area. He even offered to help me to change my JR pass in Tokyo station. Thank you so much Kazu, i wouldn't have a good experience without your help Additionaly, everyone who wants take travel few cities in Japan, i recommend to buy JR pass in your country before arrived in Japan.......its much cheaper than u buy JR pass in Japan.
Kazu was very good, he took me everywhere I asked, he was on time at my hotel, and I asked him to use elevators instead of stairs as my knee was injured so he found the best spots. Hope to see you again, thank you!
We had a fantastic time with Kazuhisa! He was very flexible and took us to all of the places that we were interested in. There is no way that we would have been able to see so much and be so relaxed without his help. Tokyo is an enormously large and overwhelming city if you don't know where you are going. Kazuhisa really knows Tokyo and made our day wonderul and fullfilling. Thank you, Kazuhisa! We hope to see you again in the US!
Kazu did a great job and helped us a lot in exploring Ginza and Tokyo Skytree area. Although we did not get the chance to go to the viewing deck in the Skytree (the queue to buy entrance tickets was very very long) but he gave us alternative to view the Tokyo city at the 30th floor in the next building (its free of charge). He also helped us find Halal food and patiently waited for us while we went shopping like crazy in Uniqlo (unbelievable price!). He picked us up at the hotel lobby and sent us back to the same spot although its already more than 7 hours guided tour. I strongly recommend Kazu to you!
Hello everybody! We just had an amazing time with Kazu yesterday. He is a really flexible tour guide and he never gets tired ^_^. I would definitely recommend him if you want to get to know the beautiful city of Tokyo. Oh I almost forgot to mention he is an excellent okonomiyaki cook.
Kazu, was really nice and patient! Even though it was a rainy day, we got to walk around the Sumida River that I've never been before. Nice walk :)
My partner and myself had a great time with Kazu who kindly showed us around Tsujiki and Asakusa. We got to see the sights through Japanese eyes which was wonderful. Kazu is a mine of information and has a great sense of humour - definitely recommended.
Good trip. Full day of fun. Kazu, next time we will do full day bar tour
I spent one afternoon with Kazu and I've got to say he's an amazing guide and an amazing guy! He was kind enough to meet me at a station near a conference I was attending, then, even though I wasn't sure what I wanted to see, he gave the best advice based on my preference. We visited several places, and he was never looking at the time, it's more like going out with a friend. I would always recommend visiting places with a local, it gives so much more insight on what you're seeing, and Kazu is great at that, always explaining and giving interesting information on the places you visit. Thanks Kazu for the guide and I'm looking forward to repeat it in the future!
Kazu san is a friendly and good guide who brought me to many interesting places in Tokyo and he even offered to answer any questions i have through telephone after his activity.
My wife and I spent a great day with Kazu. He helped us a lot. We will be waiting for you when you will come to Spain.
Kazu is reliable and friendly, sweet guy to talk to and hang out in Tokyo.
It was great time with Kazu, from buddhist temples, shinto shrines, skyscrapers, shopping and even a little bit of sport!
I came to Japan on business but I had a couple of free days to spend in Tokyo is so huge that you can just spend hours trying to figure out how to get to different places so having this site is so helpful with guides like Kazu who really know their way around Tokyo. Kazu even came to my hostel to pick me up which I really appreciated as it was my first day in Japan and everything was still a little confusing. Two of my coworkers joined us and he was very patient with us as we tried new foods and saw new things. He took us to the fish market and helped us to pick a good and affordable place for lunch (much appreciated)and then we went to Shibuya. It was just great to have someone with us that really knew their way around. Thanks Kazu!
Kazu is a great friendly guy! We met Kazu on out first day in Tokyo. He was very friendly and pleasant and took us to a Buddhist temple and a Shinto shrine. We also went shopping for some obscure items, which was great. Also had an awesome vegetarian lunch which we wouldn't have found without Kazu to help us. What a great introduction to Tokyo :)
One words , Fantastic ! Was having a great time with a great guy today. He was very friendly and good in English too. Was having great sushi at a super delicious sushi shop ,under his guide I was able to try authentic sushi at a very good price! We went many many many places around tokyo , he was great with short-cut road/back alley around tokyo. Was feel like I'm a local here in wonderful Japan! Thanks so much Kazuhisa!
What a nice guy! Kazu is like your friend away from home, I think he's even better than your friend :) He took us everywhere I want. Schedule is only part of the plan, when I said I want to go to some place he nod and take us there right away. Time is no problem for him. He'll give you more than you need till you're the one that says enough :). I ended up ask him to company me for the next day :)) First day: asakusa. Shinjuku (his parents house at my request) and ropongi. 2nd day: Ometesando, Meiji Shrine/Harajuku station, takeshita dori and shibuya (a must visit!) He even want to pay his own lunch (please don't let him do that) which would be not fair for him since he charged soo little for his time. Thank you Kazu my friend! I will surely call you next time i visit tokyo again!
