Most of tourists just visit Meiji Jingu(Meiji shrine). But this shrine is a kind of a large park. There are many sidewalks and a garden (with entrance fee). It’s very Japanese-like peaceful and beautiful park that locals love. Also, Meiji Jingu is one of the most efficient spot in Tokyo for a tourist. It’s very easy access from JR Harajuku station or Meiji Jingu-mae Metro station. Yoyogi-Park and Harajuku Takeshita street are nearby (walking-distance). It takes only one station from here to Shibuya. Enjoy a traditional and urban tour around here!

This Tokyo place is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife Empress Shoken. I think this place is a MUST spot in Tokyo tour. Almost all travel company guide travelers to here. If you are lucky, you may see the Japanese traditional wedding. It must be beautiful absolutely.

Meiji Jingu is the most famous Shinto shrine in Japan.
On New Year's Day, there are thousands of people who are wishing happy.

The trees of the garden are man-made forests, although these trees are so big and old.
Actually, they were planted about 90 years ago.
The forest is one of the most beautiful forest in Japan.

If you are luckey, you might see the wedding ceremony with Japanese traditional style at the Main Shrine.
It's so fantastic!

Meiji jingu is shito shrine. you may or not tend to misunderstand temple that is different from shrine. but it's interesting to know those places as Japanese tradition. moreover you could see wedding ceremony on weekend.

Meiji Jingu is one of the biggest shrine in Japan.
As far as I know, it's the most popular shrine in Tokyo Area to visit during new years.

Some foreigners are likely to think that Japanese goes to shrine cuz they are nationalistic but it's not true. They go cuz of conventional reason.

Anyway, seeing is believing, so that I recommend you to visit to deepen understanding of Japan!
