I booked a two days with Mariko and couldn't be happier. She is extremely patient, kind, smart, and went the extra mile to meet any requests that I made prior to meeting and requests that I made on the fly. On top of what we had scheduled for the two days, I had made requests during our trip like wanting to try Kobe beef and going to an izakaya. Mariko quickly did research, confirmed the information with me, and booked a reservation. I was going to stay at a hotel in Nagoya between the two days and she called the hotel for me to confirm that I would be arriving a little late per my request. We were definitely able to cover more places in Kyoto than I would have alone. Her English is very good and she knows her way around Kyoto. It would be a mistake not to book Mariko for Kyoto! Thanks again, Mariko!

My husband and I met Mariko at our ryokan in Kyoto in September 2014. During our messages before meeting she was very helpful and even booked a tea ceremony for us! We visited a once a month market she had heard of and it was amazing. Mariko was fun to talk with, we enjoyed chatting while walking and learnt a bit about her.
We will certainly try to see her next time we visit.

Mariko was a fantastic guide! She was able to cram in many activities for my friend and I in a short morning. She is extremely knowledgeable about Kyoto! I'm so glad I was able to meet her.

I would recommend her to you in an instant.

Highly recommended.

Mariko was an excellent host and friend. She organised a local Izakaya experience for us which was great. Time went very fast as we discussed many subjects over a delicious dinner!

Thank you Mariko, hope to see you again soon.

Thanks to Mariko I had a great time in Kyoto.
Before arriving, she cares about what activities I would like to try and the places I want to go.
She is so nice and you feel like being with an old friend that you have not seen in a while.
Along with her friends, I really enjoyed Karaoke and Okonomiyaki dinner!!
I highly recommend Mariko :)

Mariko is so sweet and lovely she showed me th places I wanted to go and even more. She reminds me of a good friend and very easy to get along with. She is so patient and tought me a lot of things, I highly recommend Mariko if you plan to visit kyoto!!!

Mariko was very punctual on our meeting date. While on our walk tour, she would explain the local food or craft that we pass by and suggested a good Katsu restaurant that is very popular with the locals. She readily gave train or subway stations that we need to take
for our next destination the next day. And suggested the most popular tourist spots. From a rating of 1-10. Its definitely an 8 for Mariko.

Mariko was wonderful. She brought me and a friend to some fantastic sights. She even helped us on getting out tickets for sumo and The Ghibli Museum through a kiosk machine that had no English options. I've been in Japan for a week now and I am still thinking about how tender the salmon we had for lunch was. Great dining selections by Mariko.

Now this is important. I am legally blind and Mariko was very helpful for when I needed assistance. If you're in Kyoto, hang out with Mariko!

Mariko was a wonderful guide, friendly, knowledgeable and considerate. She brought along a friend of hers and the three of us chatted all day. She had planned for us to see a cherry blossom parade at Daigoji Temple which was a lot of fun. We also visited a tea salon in downtown Kyoto. We would have done more but my old legs were giving out. I would highly recommend Mariko to anyone looking for a guide in Kyoto.

Mariko was an excellent guide. She put a lot of thought into where to take me, and really did an excellent job of taking me to cool places. I felt that I was in great hands with her, and had a great time.
I couldn't ask for more.
So if you want to check out Kyoto, you'd better contact Mariko. You'll be glad you did.

Mariko was so sweet and fun! We had an amazing time in Kyoto with her. She brought us to wagashi class to start. We had lunch, visited some temples that she recommended (there are so many in Kyoto; I was so glad to have an insight on which ones are good to visit). We were also lucky enough to be visiting during one of three weekends a year when there are Autumn nightime temple lightings. Without her suggestion, we would have no idea they were even happening! Mariko took us to the temple lighting and dinner at a hotpot restaurant. She even found places to eat that would be fine for an allergy. She planned all of this even before we left for Japan and was a great communicator. Her English is excellent too! Thank you, Mariko!

My twin and I spent a great day with Mariko an her friend. they are really fun and sweet. This activity will certainly be one of the best memory we will bring back from Japan :-)

Mariko was an excellent host, she went above and beyond the call of duty! Kyoto can be a daunting city as there is so much to see; so having someone patient and who's English was good made my short trip there really enjoyable! Plus making wagashi was really awesome because you get to experience something you might never do otherwise! I cannot recommend Mariko highly enough!
