"Cho Ben Thanh where you must visit and get something to your country" - Saigon Square ...
(Ho Chi Minh City)
"Chợ Bến Thành" or "Ben Thanh market" is a mustsee for shopaholics but you have to make sure to BARGAIN. It’s a big indoor market that sells everything from wood handicrafts, áo dài, souvenirs, coffee, food, etc. The market opens from 9 AM till around 7 PM. At night, there is a night market just outside the premises. FYI, check this http://www.asiatourmagazine.com/ben-thanh-market-a-must-see-for-shopaholics If you want to have an Vietnamese traditional "áo dài", I recommend you should not buy "áo dài" in Ben Thanh market. You need to buy silk or Vietnamese fabric in Ben Thanh market (there are many stores that only sell Vietnamese silk or fabric for the áo dài. Then you can ask local sellers where to have fabric made to the áo dài for you: "Where can I have my áo dài made with this fabric?" or "Are there any áo dái Vietnamese tailors near Ben Thanh market?". I recommend Trâm tailor on Nguyen An Ninh street (on the right side of Ben Thanh market, Southern gate). It takes a day or 2 for you to have your áo dài made but trust me, it's worthy when you put your own áo dài on.

Ben Thanh market is popular among locals for its night market place and its wide variety of goods from clothing to food. However, it's famous for being an expensive market even for locals. When at Ben Thanh, my best advice for you is try to bargain and keep an eye on you personal stuff.

I wasn't born in HCMc, but I've lived here for 2 years. Before I turned to live in HCMc, I'd heard a lot about BenThanh market. This is one of the most famous places in HCMc. So that's why Ben Thanh market was the first place I visited when I turned to live here. That was amazing! There were too many foreign people and many items, awsome souvernir were sold there... People inside the market spoke English really well thought they hadn't got any English courses. This was the first time I've ever seen such a big market like that. I hope to show you guys how special it is!

When you come to Ben Thanh market, you can see a lots of attracting goods, esp. for girl loves shopping. However, there are tips for you to get cheaper price: - Bring a Vietnamese with you because she/ he can bargain for you. - Be friendly. Like Thailand, the seller here love smiley tourists. - Don't swear and stand in fron of 1 store for too long. Since it is one of the merchant taboo, if you lock the entrance to their stores, they will scold you or even ask you to leave with harsh words

Located as an intersection of the biggest streets in HCMC, Ben Thanh market has long become a "must" for all tourists to this city. The image of this market is also used as a symbol for HCMC tourism not only thanks to but an intriguing history behind this structure. Ben Thanh market was re-constructed over time and its location at the moment lies numerous stories about the rise and fall of Gia Dinh fort (the former name of Hochiminh city nowadays). If either the daytime heat bothers you or the fear of being deceived inside the market, I'll take you to a whole new Ben Thanh market at night to wander about much more interesting street vendors nearby where reasonably cheap yet unique souvenirs are waving for you haha. If the night is still young, I won't be hesitant to let you discover the hidden wonders of street food and leisure places around Ben Thanh market. Join my tour and an amazing trip will bowl you over. See you soon!
