Janie-Rita (Bangkok)
Vimanmek Mansion and Ananta Samakom Throne Hall are close to each other, so it is easy to travel bothe places with in a day. Vimanmek Mansion is one of the famouse places in Bangkok. It is a former royal palace and located in the Dusit Palace complex, nearby Dusit Zoo in Dusit district. It was used as a royal palace by King Rama V for five years until the completion of Amphorn Satharn Villa in 1906. In 1932, Vimanmek Palace was used only as a storage place of the Bureau of the Royal Household.

Vimanmek Mansion is one among the top 10 places to visit in Bangkok. It is popular as it is a former royal palace. The compound is big and there are many buildings or houses that showcase different collections as well as projects of the royal family. Aside from the Vimanmek Mansion, in the compound lies also the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall which should never be missed. The Grand Palace (Wat Phrakeaw) ticket includes the ticket for the Vimanmek Mansion. Therefore, visitors must go first to the Grand Palace before Vimanmen Mansion. Visiting of the two places not necessarily mean doing it on the same day. Very important to remember, Vimanmek Mansion is close every Monday (though the brochure indicates it is open everyday).

You guidebook might say that Vimanmek Mansion (Palace) is open everyday. At least, my guidebook says so. However, it is closed on every Mondays. I visited there on Monday, and many tourists did the same mistake. Be careful!
